As we approach Earth Day 2023, join us for an adult education series in which we will challenge ourselves to respond individually and collectively as people seeking to care for God’s creation. All sessions will be held in Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
April 30 – Our Congregational Response. After a review of work Fair Oaks has done to respond to climate change, we will gain new ideas from two local congregations. Judy Klem, Executive Director of the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory and President of Oak Park Temple’s Board of Directors, and Mary Margaret Bartley, leader of the Green Team at Grace Lutheran Church, will discuss the innovative work being done in each congregation.
May 7 – Our Individual Response. Join us for a facilitated discussion of the many ways our personal actions can nurture and care for our environment. Chris Marzec, FOPC Session member, will provide information about Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) investing. Art Spooner, leader of the Interfaith Green Network, will discuss current best practices in recycling, and composting, as well as new information about energy, including heat pumps and electric appliances.
